About Ellyssa

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am a skilled offensive player with the ability to make smart and fast decisions on the court that help my team. I am able to find places on the court to put the ball to result in a game point. I have superior defensive skills up at the net when blocking. I am able to track down the ball and hitter with enough time to get a touch on the ball.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am hardworking and an uplifting teammate. I know when to have fun and when I need to be serious. I care deeply about my coaches, teammates, performance, and academics.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I have been involved in volunteering around my community. Including, For Love of Dogs, Feed My Starving Children, Bio Girls, and Homeward Bound.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Throughout the years I have developed great leadership, perseverance, grit, determination, resiliency, and teamwork.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

In 2023 I was not able to participate in club volleyball because I had broken my wrist from gymnastics.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a college that aligns with my values that challenges me both academically and athletically.

Ellyssa Holmberg competed with grit and determination in the PM wave, embracing every matchup at the net. She worked relentlessly in transition, staying available for first-tempo and giving her setter a consistent option rally after rally. When set, she attacked with conviction — strong arm swing, decisive contact, and a willingness to challenge established blockers head-on.

Defensively, Holmberg did not shy away from physical battles against high-level competition. She closed blocks with urgency, pressed over the net, and stayed disciplined in her assignments. What stood out most was her competitiveness — she leaned into tough rotations, stayed vocal, and refused to give ground.
