About Emerson

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I play with a fast, aggressive style and look to be a reliable six-rotation outside hitter. I like to score with smart, high-IQ swings while also contributing on defense with consistent passing and digging. I bring energy on the court, work hard in serve-receive, and take pride in being a player my team can count on in every rotation.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I have a competitive, positive mentality and like to lead by keeping the energy high and focused every play. Being a good teammate is very important to me, and I try to support each teammate in the way they need most. I am always willing to put in extra work and do whatever it takes to help my team succeed.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I believe it is important to be a well-rounded student-athlete. I play club volleyball with Catalyst Volleyball and am also involved in school clubs including Student Council and ASL Club. Outside of school, I ride horses competitively. Academically, I have a 4.0 GPA, take honors classes, and received a Academic All-District Athlete Award.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Through volleyball, academics, and activities outside of school, I have developed leadership, patience, and teamwork. I’ve learned how to lead by example, support different personalities, and value giving back through community service.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

One of the biggest challenges I have faced was when I first started playing club volleyball. I was a late addition. I had to work hard to earn my place while keeping a positive attitude. I started the season with little playing time, but I earned the trust of my coaches and teammates and grew into a six-rotation hitter and leader. This experience taught me resilience, confidence, and persistence.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a college where the town truly supports the school and there is a strong sense of community around athletics and academics. I am open to locations across the United States, as long as the school is a good overall fit. Finding a program where I can grow both academically and athletically, while being part of a supportive environment, is very important to me.

Bierman is part of Foster’s high school volleyball team and represents Catalyst at the club level. She was among the very best servers in the event, and every time she went up to fire her floater, she’d get passers across the net in trouble. The outside hitter also displayed solid technical foundations in the serve-receive drill, being very intentional with how she always placed her body behind the ball and ensuring smooth and accurate deliveries. Bierman was very dynamic at the net, using her length and heavy arm to get some powerful crosscourt swings down.
