About Emily

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I like to run the offense at a fast pace allowing the hitters an open net with little to no block interference. I also like running the middles with complex plays allowing our team to excel. I set the front row as well as the back row to switch up the offense to keep our opponents guessing.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I believe in the “next play” mindset. As volleyball is a game of mistakes it’s important for me to be able to shake off a bad play, or a mis hit. I also go into every game with confidence knowing what our team and I can accomplish when we work together and play as a whole.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am part of my schools FCA or otherwise known as “fellowship of christian athletes.” FCA helps build my faith by bringing me closer to god while also connecting it to my sport. FCA allows for me to remember how blessed I am to get to play the sport that I love with the friends and teammates I cherish most.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Volleyball has developed me so much as a person and as a teammate. Because of volleyball I am a better leader. I am able to set an example on the court by being “locked in” and focused. It only takes one person to change a dynamic, and sometimes in a huddle a simple reminder to focus is the difference of a win or a loss. Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

While this might be a challenge for any athlete, I struggle with self comparison and self doubt. I tend to compare my self to other players at tournaments as well as some of the best setters in the world today. When I line my self up with others who are better than me, I see the missing marks. occasionally it will make me question my ability’s. Though overall It only strives me to keep practicing

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a division one college that I can play collegiate volleyball for as well as further my academics. I hope to one day be in the medical field as that has always been a passion of mine.
