About Emily
How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?
I would describe my gameplay style as focused, smart, and team-first. As a setter, I see myself as a leader on the court. I try to stay calm under pressure, communicate clearly, and help guide my teammates by making good decisions and keeping the energy up. My goal is to always set them up for success.
Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?
I would describe my mentality as focused, calm, and built on quiet courage. I’m not the loudest person on the court, but I lead through my actions, communication, and consistency. As a setter with three years of club experience, I’ve learned how to stay composed under pressure and make smart decisions to help my team. I believe being a strong teammate means staying positive and encouraging others.
Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?
Member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, involved in my local church youth activities and volunteer with my family for our small town gatherings.
High achieving academic awards and league awards for my musical abilities playing the flute. This year I am applying to be apart of my junior high leadership small group.
What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?
Over the past three years of playing club volleyball, I’ve really developed my leadership and teamwork skills. As a setter, I’ve learned how important it is to be a leader on the court—communicating clearly, staying positive, and helping keep the team focused. I’ve also learned how to work with different types of players and bring everyone together to play as a team.
Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.
Many coaches call me the quiet, courageous leader. While my voice might not be loud, I make up for it in my constant hustle and ability to not let the ball fall in play. My goal for this next season is to lead my junior high team with loud, positive encouragement and instruction.
What type of college are you looking for?
I'm still learning and exploring my options, but I'm looking for a college that has a strong volleyball program, good academics, and a positive team environment. I want to be somewhere that feels like a community, where I can grow as both a student and an athlete. A supportive coaching staff and a school that values teamwork and hard work are really important to me.
