About Emily

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I'd describe my gameplay style as scrappy, discipled, and strategic. I hustle for every ball and take pride in making sure no play dies easily on my side of the court. I focus a lot on maintaining a solid platform and good form so I can be consistent defensively, especially in serve receive and digs. I'm also good at my court awareness, while making smart plays that keep my team organized.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I'd describe my personality as bright and energetic. As the team captain, I try to keep my teammates motivated and always encourage them by giving tips and helping them improve. I make it a priority to maintain a positive and encouraging mindset on the court. If I shank a ball or make a mistake, I focus on shaking it off quickly, adjusting, and staying confident for the next play.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I have received the Presidential Gold Award for my 4.0 GPA, and I am ASB president of my middle school.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Through volleyball, I have developed strong leadership and teamwork skills. Being a team captain has taught me how to communicate effectively, motivate others, and support my teammates during both good and difficult moments. I've also learned the importance of trust, accountability, and staying positive to help create strong team chemistry.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

One significant challenge I've faced is dealing with demotivation at times. There have been moments where I felt discouraged especially after mistakes or difficult games, but I've learned how to push through those feelings by staying focused on improvement and reminding myself why I love this sport. Those experiences have helped me become mentally stronger and more resilient.
