About Emma
How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?
I have a very strong volleyball and game plan IQ. When the game is going slow, and I go back to serve, I try to pressure the other team into to working hard to beat us. I try to get them to play at a faster pace. I am a setter so I have to run the court, I set the ball to someone that other team maybe wouldn't expect. I also have a lot of trust in my teammates.
Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?
I like to win, but I like to win together as a team. I'd say having a bond with every team member is special because then we all mesh well together. I listen to ANY feedback my coaches give me, and I change what needs to be changed. No one's perfect and I know that being a setter. I will continue to get to the highest level I can by being the hardest worker on and off the court.
Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?
I am very involved in Student Council. I also run track. I earned an All Conference Academic Team award. I am an active member in my church youth group. I helped the prom committee, and also volunteered at prom.
What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?
I am a leader and have coached and taught many younger players. I have been a captain on some of my volleyball teams. I promote positivity on and off the court at all times. I have volunteered and helped others at Feed My Starving Childern with my church. I am very organized and I help plan events for my school. I'm never late, always on time, and ready to play or do whatever I need to get done.
Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.
When I was a little younger and even still, there are some times where I do get anxiety. A lot of the time I just need to cry and continue playing. I have grown to control my anxiety and just breath, because I am playing the sport that I love.
What type of college are you looking for?
I am looking for somewhere I feel welcomed right away and somewhere I feel at home. I also obviously want to feel safe with the people I'm with. I want to get better at my sport and also want to be challenged to the best I can be.
