Steege is a steady contributor for prep and club programs that are among the steadiest in the state. Consistency is the name of the game when I’ve watched her operate for Six Pack during the last few club campaigns. Steege is ready and reliable whenever a play on the ball can be made. She tracks the ball well in serve-receive and flows smoothly with the action when lining up against the attack. Steege started for a Sumner-Fredericksburg team that came within a win of the state tournament last season. Her coverage of the court resulted in an impressive 542 digs. The Cougars could take the next step to state this year, an achievement that will help Steege to continue raising her recruiting stock.

Erin Steege is your small town multisport athlete who does a little bit of everything for any team she is involved in.  She will be suiting up for Six Pack 16s this weekend out of the Waterloo/Cedar Falls area taking on MEQ 16 USA.  Steege commands the backrow, she knows how to read her attackers, anticipate the play and make things look easy. 

It’s about time we got Six Pack into the mix. Steege will carry the banner for Six Pack 16s this spring and will play a big role in anchoring the team’s backcourt. The sophomore is fresh off a 500-plus-dig campaign with Sumner-Fredericksburg and was one win away from the Class 2A mountaintop. Perhaps we shouldn’t have been surprised that Steege was an impenetrable force at Sunday’s showcase and was particularly adept at defending outside her midline. Steege shined when I was watching Six Pack at the 2025 Windy City National Qualifier. Her cooking in the back row helped lead to the squad’s attackers eating. Steege is quick and gets to her spots regularly. She’s technically sound when passing, leading to accurate offerings more often than not. Steege adds to her appeal by communicating well with teammates in keeping the operation running smoothly.
