About Gabriella

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

My gameplay style is competitive, six players vs six players, on an indoor court. Games utilize the concept of pass, set, hit with rally scoring and a match is won by best of 5 sets. There are intense games full of effort and enthusiasm.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I have a competitive mentality and a winning instinct. I am motivated, passionate towards volleyball and committed to my goals as an elite athlete. I believe in we over me. Playing as a team and working together is important to win and succeed. Staying confident in my skills and abilities is a vital part of my game. I am also dedicated to remaining coachable and open to new instruction to improve.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am involved in Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) and Future Farmers of America (FFA). This year in FFA, I was awarded my Greenhand Degree and The Star Greenhand Degree. In addition to my athletic letters, I also lettered in FFA and Academics. Previously, I have also participated in band, choir, the school newspaper, student council, all-school musicals, and golf.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I do community service and volunteer for lots of things such as serving at church. From these experiences and my athletic opportunities, I have developed my leadership, teamwork, confidence, self-talk, self-discipline, and mental toughness skills. Working together as a team and leading that team is just as important as focusing on yourself such as how you talk to yourself or motivate yourself.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Over the course of my freshman year, I began experiencing panic attacks. I’ve learned the difference between anxiety and panic attacks. I focused on learning and using strategies to stay mentally tough in those situations and push through the mental blocks. I had to grasp the fact that I can’t run from this problem and had to acquire the ability to not let it affect my life.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a 4 year college that offers a career path into the medical field with a flexible class schedule and high academic standards. I would also like to play volleyball in college and am looking for a successful program that offers training to reach my athletic goals. I want to be a part of a community that pushes me towards my goals both in the classroom and on the court.
