About Giana
How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?
My playing style is characterized by smart decision-making, precise ball control, and relentless defensive effort. With a well-rounded skill set and strategic mindset, I excel as a 6-rotation outside hitter, consistently making impactful contributions to my team's success. Known for my exceptional passing and defensive skills, I'm a reliable force on the court.
Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?
I'm a driven, team-first player with a growth mindset and contagious enthusiasm. I'm fiercely competitive, yet humbly open to feedback and guidance. My positive energy and resilient spirit make me a unifying force on the court, and I thrive in environments where hard work, accountability, and camaraderie are valued.
Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?
Volleyball takes up most of my time, along with my academic commitments, but I strive to maintain balance in all areas of my life. While I'm not heavily involved in clubs or organizations outside of my sport, the award I'm most proud of is receiving the Best Christian Character award. It holds a special meaning to me because it reflects the values I aim to live by both on and off the court.
What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?
As captain of my previous two teams, I've developed strong leadership skills, learning to motivate and guide my teammates, and promote a positive team culture. Additionally, I've developed valuable skills in teamwork, time management, and problem-solving, all of which have prepared me for success on and off the court.
Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.
When I was 14, I broke my foot the week before volleyball tryouts. To make things even tougher, I was also playing travel soccer at the time, balancing two demanding sports. But I didn't give up. I worked hard in rehab to get stronger and come back to the court. I learned a lot from the experience, like how to stay focused, be tough mentally, and adapt to challenges. It made me a stronger player.
What type of college are you looking for?
I'm looking for a college with a strong volleyball program and good academics. I'd prefer a medium to large school with a team that's competitive and supportive. I also want to study something I'm interested in, although I'm still deciding on a major. Overall, I'm searching for a college where I can grow as a player, student, and person.
