About Gianna

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

On serve receive and in defense, I’m the type of libero to want every ball. After 8 years of playing volleyball, 5 of which being a setter, I’ve had lots of experience with many different in-game situations. Overall, I look up to the liberos Lexi Rodriguez, Elena Scott, and Dustin Watten to influence the way I make myself as a lib!

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

All of my coaches have told me I am the loudest in the court at all times. I believe that cheering for your teammates is the BEST way to bring up the entire teams morale. Negativity is the worst thing a player could bring to the court. I decide every day when I hop on the court, whether it’s practice or a game, that I will have the biggest smile, the best attitude, and an undying cheerful spirit.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I have started my own club at my high school, White Bear Lake. It is a tutoring club that specializes in mathematics. I started this club near the beginning of my Sophomore year and it has taught me lessons about cooperation, teaching, and learning about the different types of students and how they learn. I have also gotten awards for being on the A honor roll every semester of high school.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I think the most prominent skill I have acquired throughout my life would be perspective. I’ve found that every time I am in a stressful situation considering another person, I firstly think about how it would feel to be in their shoes. This translates on to the volleyball court really well… I am always looking out for my teammates, cheering them on, and complimenting their skills.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a college with a volleyball program filled with athletes like me who have so much passion for volleyball and show it on and off the court. I would like to be at a college with warm weather, but that’s not a deal breaker for me.
