About Giuliana
How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?
My coaches and teammates describe me as a player with exceptional court awareness who is calm, focused, and smart under pressure. They see me as versatile, someone who can adjust quickly, anticipates plays, and steps into whatever role the team needs. Their confidence in my decision-making and game knowledge allows me to have a greater positive impact on the team, whether on the sideline or court.
Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?
People often describe my mentality as calm and collected, even in high-pressure moments. I’m known for keeping a positive attitude and playing with a smile on my face, which helps me stay steady and focused. My teammates and coaches say this energy motivates those around me and keeps the court environment confident and composed.
Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?
I am involved with numerous clubs at my high school, including HOSA and Tutu Tuesdays (creating and donating tutus to local pediatric hospitals). Prior to high school I was heavily involved in ASB, and received the “Leadership” award upon graduation. I have also volunteered my time with PenMet Parks in Gig Harbor, helping to lead youth volleyball camps over the summer.
What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?
I’ve developed leadership by captaining my club team and earning a varsity spot as a freshman, which also strengthened my teamwork and communication. I’ve also grown through community service by coaching younger athletes, both at a summer volleyball camp and with a 3rd-grade team, sharing the sport I love and learning how to mentor others.
Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.
Organized sports come with ups and downs. It’s what you do with either that makes you a better player/teammate. I have faced challenges in overcoming injury, earning playing time on competitive teams, and being asked to play positions that were outside of my comfort zone to help the team during injuries. With any of these situations, it is about looking for the opportunities to grow as a player.
What type of college are you looking for?
I am looking for a college that feels like an extension of home, whether large or small. I have always taken my academics seriously and hope to pursue a degree that allows me to give back to others through the medical field.
