About Harper

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I'm a powerful versatile player, who excels under pressure. I'm comfortable anywhere on the court and thrive when things are most competetive. I enjoy playing defense as much as offense.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I have a calm space on the court that can provide natural leadership. I'm a hard worker and value teamwork. I'm competitive, love a close game, and can excel in pressure filled moments.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I'm a part of Future Business Leaders of America, and we earned our way to compete at the State competition my sophomore year. I also participate in the Kinship program, providing mentorship to younger students. In addition, I participate in our Empty Bowls program, helping to raise money and awareness to fight hunger through art.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I was 1st team All Conference and Player of the Year my Jr year of volleyball. I was 2nd team All Conference in 10th grade. I was awarded MVP in 9th grade for volleyball and MVP for field events in 10th grade for track, and made it to State in the triple jump in 9th and 10th grade. I delivered winter clothes to those who are homeless and volunteered at our youth vball camp for the last few years.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I have high standards and goals for myself and have had to learn to brush off mistakes and focus on what's next. I've also worked through understanding that my worth goes beyond my athletic ability.

What type of college are you looking for?

I'm looking for a college with an Occupational Therapy program or program that will lead to OT, that has a supportive and welcoming environment, where I can learn and utilize my volleyball skills. A positive culture is important to me as well.

Gibson preps at Osceola where she has been on varsity since her freshman year. She is one of those players that you want on the floor at all times. She is quick, versatile, and contributes to the team’s success in several ways. She is solid in passing, digging, and definitely attacking. Gibson loves to take rips from both pins as well as out of the backrow. Gibson has taken her talents to Kokoro where she is likely going to turn many heads this club season.
