About Haylie

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I have a huge love for the game, always wanting to grow and get better. I am extremely competitive but also focus on supporting and uplifting my team.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I focus on the good in each play and move on from the mistakes, I want my team to know that i’m there to help support them and give them opportunities to score.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have huge leadership in the back row, I help keep serve receive calm, while making sure defenses is ready to move. I have developed big teamwork skills as it’s not a single player game, and all parts must work together to get the job done. I give my hitters spots, help take more balls so they are ready to hit, and try to get the best ball up as possible to help my team score.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a college with a good nursing school, and a competitive volleyball program with amazing girls that I can make good relationships with. I want to be challenged everyday and unlock as much of my potential as possible!

Steel plays the hustle and heart you love to see out of the libero position. She does a tremendous job covering her attackers and was solid in serve-receive as CPA 18 Kosty made a run to the semi-finals in Phoenix. Steel was a stand-out performer at Shadle Park and has continued to improve and refine her overall defensive game into the club season.

Steel has been on the rise for a few years now, playing for Shadle Park High School in Spokane. The 2025 Libero checks into the rankings for the first time after doing the hard work to grow her game. Steel is a skilled communicator on the court, giving her teammates positive feedback while staying competitive and dialed in. She reads hitters well and is willing to plant her feet and take on the big heat from opposing hitters. Steel is poised to be the leader for Shadle this season as they seek a return trip to the state tournament.
