Player Bio
About me
My name is Hazel Williams and I play high school varsity volleyball for Fleming Island High School in Florida. I earned my second year varsity letter in this 2023 season and I was selected as the team Most Valuable Player (MVP) award and selected for the Second All County Team as a sophomore and finished off the season with 489 assists in a 6-2 system, 148 digs and 48 services aces.
What position(s) do you play? What do you view as your strengths?
I am a 5'8" setter primarily, but have been asked frequently to be a right side in a 6-2 system or to remain on the floor in a 5-1 system because I am an effective blocker and can make a variety of plays from the right side. I think my strengths are my athleticism, the quick release with my hands when setting, my reliable serve and defense.
What type of school are you looking for?
I am open to all levels of college volleyball. I want a school that will challenge me academically while being in a culturally diverse student body for new experiences. I have moved around a lot being a military dependent, so I am comfortable with moving around, being in new places and have no preference to hot or cold climates. I am looking for a school that will help me learn and grow everyday!
What are your interests outside of Volleyball?
Outside of volleyball, I have tried other sports but found that I prefer just working out with my personal trainers and playing volleyball. I spend a lot of time with family and friends. I'm in my 2nd year with the Future Business Leaders of America and serve as a volunteer for my school, for different military support events and for my community.
Closing Statement
The recruiting process has been an interesting and at times overwhelming experience. If you are interested in getting to know me more I can be reached by text message and by email. So I want to say thank you for taking the time to learn more about me and my journey.
