About Holly

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

My gameplay is committed. I give my body mentally and physically to the court in every match, and a score will never change how hard I work. As a libero, I have a "go" mentality and will never let a ball just hit the ground. I've been described as the energy on the team, and I will never be afraid to go out of my way to be someone's "pick me up."

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

My personality is big and bold, there won't ever be a dull moment with me on a team. I believe strongly in being able to work things out, and maturity is not something I lack. From hitting the ground on a crazy kill to jumping on my teammates when we win a big game, I love being the loudest and the most energetic. Mentally, I remain very stable during a game and refuse myself out of overthinking.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I work with my old church quite often, participating in children's ministry, I am an ambassador at my club and am currently working hard to get fundraisers and charity work more into our loving club family. In my 14's year I received "heart of legacy" and in 15's year I received MVP. During my school season, I had an honorable mention for the second round of playoffs at a varsity 6a level.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have learned to be a leader for my team. With all the ups and downs throughout my seasons, it has shaped me to be the person I am today. With playing at a high level competitive sport, comes a lot of emotions. I trust myself completely to calm situations down and work together with my teammates, rather than against them. I have always worked to lead by example on and off the court.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

For so long I placed thoughts in my mind such as "I'll never be good enough", or "I can't make them proud", but over the years I have come to Christ and developed a personality of my own, where I can be proud of myself and I know that no matter how hard things crash, ill be okay. I have love, support, and grace all around me and I will forever be grateful for what I have received.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a college where I can find Christian communities, even if the whole college isn't biblically based, I would also like a good relationship with my coaches and teammates, along with a place to focus on my career and meet my goals in life. I am very responsible with balancing sports and school, so I am not very concerned there, but I will be grateful for whatever I receive.

Ratcliffe will be with the Texas Legacy 16 Adidas team that is entered in the 16 Liberty division. A very agile player, she will be seen making acrobatic digs as she works hard to keep the ball off the floor. Ratcliffe has excellent ball control and often manages to deliver perfect digs to her setter when she needs to dive to get to the ball. The libero is also very confident in serve-receive and typically covers a large portion of the court, freeing her hitters up. She also sets very well from the backcourt, even using her hands when comfortable.
