About Izzy

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I like a fast paced game that pushes me.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I get a big adrenaline rush and play best under pressure and in intense situations. I always think it’s important to not worry about the point that just happened or anything that went wrong, but to think about the next ball and what I’m going to do. I don’t dwell on things that I can’t control. I like helping lead the team and being encouraging to the other girls on the court.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I’m in a club at my high school called friendly faces. We get together with other students who maybe have a hard time making friends and so they can have a friendly face in the hallway or in class or whatever.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

The past few months I’ve been working hard on getting out of my comfort zone and just developing more life and leadership skills outside of volleyball. I’ve also done a little bit of volunteering at a local food bank.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I’ve had some challenges just with dynamics of other people or coaches. It’s helped me to mature and humble myself.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m very interested in a D1 college, but also realistic about what those opportunities could mean. I’m very interested in the MAC schools and the Big 10. But at the same time I want to be able to play as a freshman so we’ll see how things go and where I land. I’m working really hard right now to achieve my goals and feel like I’m on a really good track.
