About Jayla

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I have a high level of court awareness. I prioritize understanding spatial relationships and anticipating plays to be in the right place at the right time.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I would describe my personality as competitive, resilient, and driven. I focus intensely on self-improvement and keeping a growth mindset. When challenges arise during a game, my mentality is to stay focused, adjust quickly, and bounce back from mistakes without dwelling on them, always pushing for the next point.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I have received the 1st Team All Region as a Freshman in 2024 & Sophomore in 2025, and the 2025 Team of Year for Archer High School. This recognition was for my efforts at Archer High School Varsity. I've found that the same discipline required for my sport also translates into my academic and volunteer pursuits.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I've developed opportunities for leadership that emerged both on and off the court. I lead by example through consistent effort, vocal communication to guide teammates during plays, or by mentoring newer younger players on developing teams.

What type of college are you looking for?

On the volleyball side, I'm primarily looking for a program with a strong team culture that emphasizes development both on and off the court. I'd like to compete at a high level where I can make an impact, ideally within a competitive conference Big Ten, Big 12, ACC. Academically, I'm interested in Business so a school with strong programs in that field is important.
