About Jayla

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I’d say my gameplay style is be the most athletic player on the volleyball court by using my speed and quickness to make plays.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

My mindset on the court is that I can get to every volleyball, no matter what. As a setter, I think it’s super important to do my job so my hitters can do theirs. That’s why I train hard—because I want to win and help my team every time we play.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

In 6th grade, I was the commissioner of girls athletics at my school. In 5th grade, I was the commissioner of ecology, and this year I’ll be the commissioner of service. These jobs are important for my school, and they help me become a better leader.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I’m a real leader on and off the court. I was the captain of my middle school volleyball team in 6th grade, and I was also the commissioner of girls athletics that year. Being a setter really matches my personality because I like helping my team and staying in control. My athletic ability is one of my best skills, and I keep getting better every volleyball season. I’ve even won Most Valuable Playe

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

One big challenge I faced was becoming a setter. I’ve always worked on my all-around game, so when it was my turn to step up, I was ready. Now I’m focused on staying ahead of any challenges that come next.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking forward to playing Division 1 volleyball, and I’d love to go to a college that competes with the best teams out there.

Jayla brings energy, athleticism, and communication to every court she steps on. She has been working on location and tempo so her hitters can attack confidently. “My goal this season is to get in really good shape so I can play fast and strong every time I’m on the court,” she said. The showcase gave her a chance to show that energy in every drill, maintaining effort and focus while keeping her teammates engaged.

Her presence is hard to miss. “I hope coaches remember that I’m one of the most athletic players on the court,” she said. Jayla’s communication and enthusiasm elevate everyone around her.
