I first happened upon Alexander when watching her operate for Powerplex at last year’s Northern Lights National Qualifier in Minneapolis. A Van Meter freshman at the time, she was swinging away from the pin and playing six rotations. Alexander went on to pound out 207 kills (.236) in 94 sets as a Bulldog sophomore last fall. She added 24.0 blocks and 86 digs. I caught up with her again at the 2026 Mizuno Midwest JVA Challenge during the first weekend of May in Central Iowa. Back with PowerPlex, Alexander was swinging away from the right side. She added to the heavy swing I’d witnessed a year ago, grew a bit taller and continued utilizing her long arms in generating power. Alexander has a good feel for throwing up the block, flowing with the action and reading the opposing attack well. Versatility is one of her best traits. Alexander could be effective at any of the three front-row spots.

We’re starting with another Iowa PowerPlex standout who thrived in the club’s home territory. Alexander stood out among a large group of pin hitters at Midwest Live and exhibited her full range during positional drills. The Van Meter underclassman wielded her high contact point in the frontcourt and remained an asset as a back-row defender. Alexander’s diverse skill set reminds us of so many other standout pin hitters at PowerPlex, and her development is just getting started.

I caught Alexander in action at the 2025 Northern Lights Qualifier. She impressed with her all-around volleyball skill set. Alexander shines the most from the outside pin with her big swing. She can defend at the net with height and long arms. Alexander holds up well in the back row, too. With her frame and athleticism, Alexander could work in the middle of the net or on the right side. There’s a lot of talent here if she continues working and developing.
