About Jessica

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I love the thrill of a kill at the net or from the back row, have consistently solid passing skills under pressure, easily adapt in all court positions, quickly anticipate ball direction, position, and placement, and deliver many aces with my serve techniques. I enjoy video review to increase my IQ, and use ideas from other players to improve my game strategy.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am funny but focused, highly competitive, athletically adaptable, and easily coachable. I maintain emotional maturity, a driven work ethic, and commitment to my team.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Honor Roll in a dual enrollment Civic Leadership Program

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have become a team leader in my role as libero, am an excellent court communicator, engage with feedback, and have enjoyed participating in coaching youth volleyball camps.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

An ankle injury took me out of playing for about a month and a half. I worked hard to come back and improve as an outside. During volleyball tryouts, I re-injured my ankle which took me out of hitting and jumping. I kept on with defense throughout the year, becoming the starting libero. I worked hard to maintain my position which paid off, as player of the match/year and all conference awards.

What type of college are you looking for?

Being from Alaska, I want to be in a warm sunny setting, with a competitive volleyball program, active urban campus, and a variety of majors.
