About Jianna

What's your biggest strength as a player, and how does it show up in games?

I try to be someone my team can rely on, and I always do my best to keep the energy up and never give up on a play.

What are you working to improve right now?

Right now, I’m working on becoming a stronger serving specialist. I’m focusing on being more consistent with my serve, improving my placement, and learning how to serve more aggressively while still keeping the ball in play. I want to be someone my coach can trust to come in and serve tough when my team needs a spark or needs to score a point.

What are you looking for in a college program?

I’m looking for a college program where I can continue to grow as a volleyball player while also being successful in the classroom. I love volleyball and want to be part of a competitive team where everyone supports each other and works toward the same goals. Academics are also really important to me, and I want a school that will challenge me and prepare me for my future.

Outside of your sport, what should coaches know about you?

Outside of volleyball, I’m a very active and creative person. I work as a lifeguard and I’m CPR certified, which has taught me responsibility and how to stay calm in stressful situations. I’m also a certified florist, so I really enjoy being creative. When I’m not working or playing volleyball, I love building Legos, wakeboarding, swimming, doing yoga, and hanging out with friends and shopping.

What do you want to study, and what career interests you?

I’m interested in studying pre-med and pursuing a career in medicine. My goal is to eventually become an OB-GYN because I’m interested in women’s health and want a career where I can make a difference in people’s lives. I know it will take a lot of hard work and dedication, but I’m excited about the challenge and want a college that will help me grow academically and prepare me for medical school.
