About Julia

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

My gameplay style is very flexible because as a setter you have to be able to adapt in the moment.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am very coachable, determined and focused. Using these traits, I have the mindset to never let a ball drop, go for everything, and have the mentality that everything is possible, if you try.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am involved in Key Club, student council, and women’s empowerment club. I have received a silver medal for placing in the 91st percentile in the National Spanish Test.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have developed leadership and adaptability. I learned leadership through my school team while running a 5-1 on varsity. Doing this helped me continue to use my leadership off the court as well. Having a new team every year, allowed me to develop adaptability because most coaches use a different style and systems.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

This past winter I found out I needed foot surgery, and it was very unexpected. And with this surgery being at the beginning of the season I was very nervous, because I wasn’t going to be able to find the timing with my hitters before the season started. After I was back it took a lot of hard work but soon I regained confidence and was able to contribute to my team earning our national bid.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a college that has a challenging academic rigor in my field of study, and still allows me to continue to play the sport I love and has strong athletic spirit.
