About Julianna

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I would describe my gameplay style as exciting but smart. Every time I get the chance, I will go up and swing to get a kill for my team, although as soon as I see a weak link behind the block or in deep corners, I will use the tips to my advantage. Earning points for my team is key as an outside hitter, so I have to play smart and swing whenever I can.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

My mentality on the court is to always give 110%. If im not out of breath by the end of a rally, I'm not working enough. On the court, being loud and cheering on my teammates is a big part of who I am. I will always make known that my teammates are supported, as communication is the most essential part of volleyball.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

In school, I am part of my student council leadership program, as well as the HALO program that provides incoming freshman with an upperclassman leader and role model.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

As the captain of the Varsity volleyball team at Xavier College Prep, I learned lots of leadership and how to act as an example for those who look up to me, or even those who don't. I learned that a leader needs to be strong, and needs to be able to be there for everyone despite their own personal issues. For teamwork, I learned that everyone has to have an open mind and desire to learn.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a college that will provide me the competition and challenge in order for my knowledge to grow inside the sport as well as my physical abilities. I am looking for a campus community that provides a strong sense of belonging, no matter how big or small the size is. In the classroom, I am ready and searching for rigorous courses that will challenge me just like on the court.
