About Kaela

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I would describe my gameplay style as methodical and deliberate. Everything I do on court has a purpose, and I use what I know about the opposing team to my advantage. I also make sure to communicate clearly to my teammates about our course of action and how we can win against the team across the net from us.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

My mentality is one of perseverance. I believe that working hard is the key to success and that the only thing stopping me from improving is myself. I think that a phrase that encapsulates my mindset is, "Opportunity meets preparation to make success." Every repetition matters to me. My goal for every practice, game, and tournament is to be better than my previous performance.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am the co-president of my girl scout troop, and am organizing a mariner competition for Girl Scouts. I founded Film Club at my school, and am on the board of other clubs:Model United Nations, American Sign Language Honor Society Interact Club. I am in National Honor Society, earned the President's Volunteer Service Award (gold), made Honor Roll, and earned girl Scout's bronze and silver awards.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have developed leadership, accountability, communication, teamwork, and community service. I learned to communicate effectively in high-pressure situations on court to be a cohesive team. I learned to take accountability, and to improve going forward. Teamwork and leadership grew from trust and taking initiative on and off the court. Community service is ingrained in me through scouting.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for and academically rigorous college that allows me to pursue a degree in political science or international relations and provides and environment in which I can thrive athletically.
