Player Bio
How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?
My gameplay: reliably strong and consistent in play & mental focus, strategic, and fun on the court for my team and myself. I am proud to be versatile, because of my great ball handling I’m starting OH 6-rotation for Club, but am starting & only Lib for Varsity HS team. I’m always supportive of my teammates, esp if there’s a tough game it’s even more important for me to build up the team morale
Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?
Initially I’m an Observer, watching and reading (as I do in a game) dynamics and other personalities. I am empathetic (but will fight hard for my people), have a point of view, but also diplomatic. I love having fun with my teammates and friends. I’m often the one laughing with food on my face, and I love to make jokes. I LOVE to compete!
Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?
I am involved in our school volunteer club, but also volunteer consistently with the Alameda County Community Food Bank. I’m passionate about food banks, bring friends to events so they learn about it, and have volunteered in different ways since I was 8 years old. I am also now a member of LINK at my high school which helps incoming Freshmen & new students get acclimated and find their belonging
What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?
As an only child, early on I learned how to communicate with kids and adults, how to go into a situation solo and how to learn to jump right in to meet people and make friends I also have an extra appreciation for time with friends, teammates, school, social events and more. I have been involved in community service with area food banks since I was 8 years old, and volunteer on a regular basis.
Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.
I’ve had a number of life challenges that have stuck with me, however, I am good about keeping things in perspective and being grateful. I have been fortunate, live in a great area, lucky to be able to play volleyball and be healthy. I’ve played sitting volleyball before with others, and it was so much fun, but a reminder that I am lucky as an able-bodied person.
What type of college are you looking for?
I’m starting to make some visits with my mom. I’d like a college near or not too far from metropolitan areas. Diversity in all forms is important to me. A good culture in which students are encouraged to explore, learn and be inspired in different ways, but to also connect actively in clubs, sports, and giving back to the community. I can’t wait!
