About Kate

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am very good at reading the game and creating point opportunities at the net. I have been described as a finesse player with quick decision-making skills that can keep plays alive and turn momentum in our favor. I look for the chance to score points not just make power plays.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am and have always been the team cheerleader and spirit lifter. I love the commeraderie of a team almost as much as I love the game of volleyball.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am our high school sportscaster for 2025-2026 and am a member of the student Senate.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I am an lifelong active member of my church which has taught me the importance of service to others. I have found that I have a skill and love for helping children. In the short time I have between my club and high school seasons, I have had the opportunity to spend 2 weeks helping in an orphanage in Costa Rica and last year I spent 2 weeks in Panama building a school for special needs children.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I was born with an eye disorder that stopped me from learning to read until I was in about the 4th grade. I spent almost 2 years in speech, occupational and vision therapy to help me try to catch up with my classmates. I was so far behind that I had an IEP which put me in special classes for much of the day which led to a lot of bullying and massive anxiety of always feeling dumb.

What type of college are you looking for?

I moved to a very small honors high school that offered much more individualized learning. It is much harder than a traditional school but it challenges me. I am looking for a similar experience in college. I want to be in a place that feels personal and comfortable so that I can be excited to spend my college experience there.
