About Kayla

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

As a setter I'm always thinking... thinking about my hitters, the other team's blocks and how I'm setting.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

My friends and coaches say I'm strong-minded and aggressive. I want to win and if we don't it bothers me.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Space Cookies, one of 22 high school girls selected Bay Area wide (San Francisco) for this special all-girls robotics team. A partnership between NASA and the Girls Scouts. Youth & Government Model UN

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I continue to develop my leadership skills through my volunteer activities. This summer, my sister and I are co-leading a Teen Summit for Asian American youth at the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

This year's course load has been challenging since I am taking the hardest math class (stated by our dept head) and probably the hardest science AP, physics.

What type of college are you looking for?

An academically focused private college. I am not seeking a top D1 program or a scholarships for volleyball. My priority is academics but with a school that allows me to continue playing the game that I love.
