Manhattan Mamba was a frequent discussion topic during the club season, from the Prep Dig Iowa Clash to the bright lights of Nationals. Players like Liby are bringing the club to new heights. The Rock Creek sophomore was a reliable distributor during Sunday’s scrimmages, even while tracking down errant passes. This impeccable leadership flourished as Liby and her Manhattan Mamba 15-1 crew clinched the 15 American Blue title at MEQ. GJNC offered yet another opportunity for Liby to boost her stock, and she hasn’t slowed down through this late-summer stretch.

Liby is another setter who showed she can bring plenty of defensive value to the floor as well. At her size, she looks like a natural fit in a 6-2 system and delivered quality sets throughout the showcase. What stood out to me, though, was her versatility. With her defensive skill set, I could also see Liby anchoring a back row in a libero role. She moves well, handles the ball with confidence, and could easily step in to take the second ball while still giving her hitters quality opportunities to attack. Having a player who can contribute as both a setter and a high-level defender gives a team plenty of options, and Liby showed that type of value throughout the day.

Liby is ranked No. 191 overall and recently completed her profile. She is a multi-sport prospect with basketball highlights on her HUDL page. Just from those highlights, I can recognize that she has quick hands and a big reach. She plays club ball with the Manhattan Mamba. She is an athlete I look forward to seeing play down the line.
