About Keely

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I would say my playing style is strategic. Whether it's a tip or a swing, I always try to find a spot to place the ball. When I’m on the court, you can trust me to remember where the other team positions their off blocker so I can identify what’s available.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am very serious and focused on the court. As a middle blocker, I talk a lot when I am out there. I do my best to encourage and support my teammates. I do not personally believe there is any room for negativity on the court because it brings the whole team down. I tend to direct on the court with my coach's permission, and I talk the entire game - and I cheer and high-five a lot!

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am a member of the Mission Viejo High School Treble Performance Choir, competing at state and national levels. I am also involved in the St. Kilian's Catholic Church youth group and will make my Confirmation in 2026. Additionally, I serve as a lead editor for my high school's yearbook, where I photograph sporting events, build player portfolios, and help new members.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Working on my school's yearbook staff has really helped me gain a better understanding of hard work and leadership. I've learned the importance of perseverance and teamwork. Whenever I notice someone starting to feel discouraged, whether in school or on the court, I make it a point to help them get back into the right mindset. I believe in encouraging others to keep going and not give up.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I take mental health seriously and was diagnosed with ADHD the summer before my freshman year. This diagnosis has motivated me to train harder and more intelligently. I've dedicated time to studying the game, including rotations, my position, ball placement, and my teammates both on and off the court.

What type of college are you looking for?

Many players say they want to compete at the Division 1 level, but I understand what that involves, especially as the third child in a family of athletes. I'd prefer to attend a small to medium-sized college with smaller class sizes and a close-knit community. Regardless of the level, I'd be happy to continue playing competitively for my chosen college.
