Expert Analysis

Smooth and quick, Kelsee is a six-rotation outside through and through. With a fast arm swing and even faster feet to get her to the ball, Miss Coil can do it all from an O2 perspective. Do not underestimate her because of her slight build—she’s more than powerful enough and has energy to burn when it comes to consistent play throughout the day, like what we’ll see at the tournament this weekend in downtown Indy.

Kelsee is the epitome of a true utility player. She can hit both on the left and right, but what really caught my attention was that she could pass and swing to hit on both sides effectively. When Coil hits, she isn’t just swinging to keep the ball in, she is swinging to take the air out of the ball and the other team. You know when you can HEAR a player hit because they swing with so much power? This young lady hits that way and is able to do it in every direction – line, cross court and seam – from both pins. One thing that I really love about the way she plays is her blocking. She isn’t a huge blocker, so she has to be disciplined, and that she is. I don’t see much standard (non-swing) blocking anymore, but when I see it done well, it is such a beautiful sight because it is so controlled and effective. Kelsee lines up so well with the hitter when blocking and is able to jump straight up and press over without reaching so that she can either get a stuff or her teammates can play good defense behind her.
