at Kingwood, Sawyer was very solid with Kingwood. Her high contact point when setting gives her a lot of possibilities and she explored them well to make life easier for her hitter, accelerating the game when possible and getting them in a good place at the net. Her mobility was also great when she had to track passes and make hustle plays. At 6’1″, Sawyer also did a good job at the net, having some success with her blocking and forcing opposing hitters to try to go around her.

at Kingwood. Her 6’1″ frame is the first thing to stand out when she’s in action but after a few minutes of watching her, one will notice that she’s far more mobile and skilled than many would have thought. Sawyer does an excellent job of making the most of her length to accelerate the game, making contact with the ball at a much higher point than most setters would. She’s obviously far more productive than the average setter at the net, but also has great ball control to make plays on the backcourt.

A setter with excellent potential, Sawyer has been developing very quickly with her Houston Stellar 16 Elite team that will compete in the 16 USA division. Her right-side duo with

is one of the team’s main strengths and Stellar will rely a lot on them in Atlanta. The first thing that stands out in Sawyer is obviously her size, but she’s much more mobile and smoother on the ball than anyone would imagine. Another great thing about her setting is how well she uses her long arms to make contact with the ball at a high point and accelerate the game. Sawyer also has very good ball control and makes big plays on the back.

Six-foot setters don’t grow in trees and Sawyer showed to be one with a bright future during our Top 250 Expo. She’s more mobile than you would expect for a player of her size and is very smooth on the ball. I loved how she uses the length of her arms to send the ball across the court and to push it fast toward the target. She also displayed a great attitude on the court, communicating well with her teammates, and showed good ball control early on while playing defense and passing. Sawyer is nowhere near her potential yet, but has a solid foundation with strong physical and technical tools.
