About Korwyn
How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?
I am quick and agile and I like to play by the rules. Don't let my height fool you. I like to keep the opposing team guessing by setting the ball not only to my hitters, but my middle as well. I am persistent when it comes to keeping the ball in the air and I have the bruises to prove it.
Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?
I am a tough competitor. I know I need to put in the work in order to improve. Although I like to be the best, I have learned that there is always a lesson to be learned in failing. I talk with my team a lot on the court because I think communication is important to be successful. I believe in owning my mistakes and try my hardest to keep a positive mindset while on the court.
Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?
I have received honors for academics all 3 years in middle school. I also like to perform on stage when time allows. I was recently cast as the lead in Anastasia. I stepped out of my comfort zone and worked very hard to make the show a success. I leaned a lot about positive reinforcement and made some amazing friendships along the way. I still like to go volunteer with sets when I can.
What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?
I have become more confident on the court when talking with the ref and in talking to my hitters when deciding on a play. Communication is key. I have learned that positive talk and attitude will take you much further then negativity.
Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.
This past school season I did not make the team I had worked hard to make-due to seniority. I had to learn to stay in a positive mindset when on the court, even if the plays were not what I was use to running during club season. I learned that if I feel I am not improving on my skills in my team setting, then it is up to me to train harder individually-this makes me a better teammate on the court
What type of college are you looking for?
I am hoping to go into psychology or forensic science. My end career goal is to be a member of the FBI. Business studies is my back up plan.
