About Kyia

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I'm a game player! I will do whatever I can to get to the ball and make a play for my hitters! I like to move my sets around a lot so the defense doesn't always know what to expect.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am loud and outgoing once I am comfortable! I've been told I'm a natural leader. I'm focused on the court, but still like to have fun with the game.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Link Crew Honor Roll throughout high school.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I am a natural leader and love to work in a team setting, whether that's at school, in volleyball, or at my job. I am working to build on my leadership skills through the Link Crew at my school. I am excited to be a role model for incoming freshman and help them navigate high school!

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I have dealt with a classmate that made racist comments repeatedly in middle school. This was someone I considered a close friend, but I had to learn my self-respect was more valuable than that friendship. I still have to manage a school-relationship with that person, but have set my boundaries.

What type of college are you looking for?

I want something that feels like home! I want to have my independence, but still have my tight-knit group that I can grow with and become a family.
