About Kylie

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I like to play fast as I feeI sometimes have an advantage with court awareness and reaction time. My goal is to outsmart the defense and use my hitters in the best ways and at the right times. My defense is just as important to me as my offense so I work on blocking and digs almost just as often as setting. As a hitter, I am aggressive and try to be intentional with my targets combined with power.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am focused and calm in tense moments which comes natural. I think sometimes being a calm and collected leader can be an advantage and keep my teammates calm and focused. When the ball is not in play, I like to be encouraging and make people smile. I know that hard work pays off and I want to outwork my competitors in order to be confident on gameday.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Being the only 5th year player left from my original 12U team at Skyline, I feel like I am the foundation of the team. I have played all positions and all around since I started at Skyline. The team around me has changed each year and it has taught me that I can play with anyone at anytime and to adapt to the players around me.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Yes, I fractured my foot in two places last year by landing on someone else. I missed almost half of the season. It did not stop me as I kept up my hand drills, attended every tournament, and came back this year stronger. Since that injury, I actually have been involved even more in the overall offense as a hitter and my foot has healed strong.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for family. I am a very loyal person at heart and I still believe in long lasting relationships. I would like to play somewhere that volleyball is recognized and appreciated and possibly a Top 25 team if possible.
