About Laila

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I’m a well-rounded setter with a strong right side presence. I try to play smart ball that helps my teammates shine and to win the game. I communicate well on the court with the goal of maintaining positivity and enthusiasm at all times.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I believe my coaches would say that I am a quick learner with the ability to put feedback quickly into action. Mental training is part of my development as I want to be able to be rock steady despite the situation so that I can think clearly and execute effectively.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am volunteer with Horizons Atlanta and a Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Power & Potential Youth Advisory Council Member. Additionally, I am a member of multiple school clubs and organizations.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I volunteered with Horizons Atlanta as a student counselor, am an Inroads College Links scholar, and was selected as a Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Power and Potential Youth Advisory Council Member.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I made a late transition to volleyball after spending my early years in dance and theatre. It was difficult to get up to speed but I have training non-stop in clinics, camps, club, and privates to improve my skill set and athletic performance. It’s taken a lot of focus and determination but I’m proud of my progress so far.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a college with a highly competitive program, quality education, and welcoming environment. I want the opportunity to play at my highest level with a diverse team from different backgrounds.
