Laila brings senior experience to Woodward Academy’s right side as the War Eagles pursue another state championship. Her role requires her to remain involved offensively while taking on a demanding blocking assignment against opposing outside hitters. That combination makes the position more complex than simply being the next attacker in the rotation.

Her value is tied to the discipline required to handle both jobs. A right-side blocker must read the setter without releasing too early, then transition quickly enough to be available when the offense moves back toward her. Laila’s experience in a championship-level program gives her a strong foundation for those responsibilities. As a college-bound player, she also has an opportunity to demonstrate how her ability to manage the right side translates into a more demanding offensive and defensive system. ~ Samantha Fitzgerald @BenchtoBeast_prepdigga
