About Laila

What's your biggest strength as a player, and how does it show up in games?

My biggest strength is my athleticism and ability to make plays at the net. I’m an aggressive and competitive player, and I use my jumping ability, blocking footwork, and quick reactions to make an impact. I’m also a strong passer and I’m willing to do whatever my team needs to help us win.

What are you working to improve right now?

focused on improving my hitting and volleyball IQ. I’m working on my timing and becoming more consistent and confident as an attacker. I’m also learning to read the court better, understand rotations, recognize what is happening during plays, and make smarter decisions in game situations.

What are you looking for in a college program?

I’m looking for a competitive program with coaches who push their athletes to improve while also developing them as people. I want to be part of a team with a strong work ethic, good chemistry, and high expectations. Academically, I also want a school that will challenge me and give me opportunities to pursue my career goals.

Outside of your sport, what should coaches know about you?

Outside of volleyball, I’m a hardworking and motivated student who sets high goals for myself. I take school seriously and I’m always looking for ways to improve. I’m competitive, determined, and willing to put in the work when I care about something. I value my family, my teammates, and being someone others can depend on.

What do you want to study, and what career interests you?

I’m interested in studying political science or a related field and eventually pursuing a career in law. I’m especially interested in government, politics, and the legal system. My goal is to attend a strong academic university where I can challenge myself both in the classroom and on the volleyball court.
