About Laney

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

My gameplay style is characterized by explosive movement, quick decision-making, and versatility. I try to focus on blocking both the middle and pins while also contributing to offense. I have to be fast and agile to "read" the setter and move laterally with quick footwork, while also having a high vertical jump to close blocks.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am a dedicated player with the goal of playing volleyball at the college level.  I give 100% on the court, and always aspire to be the best I can be. I am a fun loving student athlete that loves to smile and enjoy her time with her teammates. I live life to the fullest each day, and strive to keep a positive outlook both on and off the court!

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Since I started high school I have been blessed to maintain a 4.0 GPA, thus I have been on the “All A” honor roll my entire high school career. I have been a member of the BETA club for two years. I received perfect attendance awards the last two years, missing zero days of school. I am an active member of my school’s chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes(FCA).

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have learned how crucial it is to be adaptable and to have the ability to adjust your leadership style to meet the needs of different teammates and situations. It’s not about being in charge, it's about empowering others to succeed. I always try to be involved in community based projects. When student-athletes give back, they inspire the next generation and strengthen the community they live in.
