Lexie’s value begins with her ability to stay involved in more than one phase of the rally. She is not simply rotating to the front row and waiting to attack. Her defensive involvement gives her opportunities to transition directly from first contact into offense, one of the more difficult responsibilities for a developing outside hitter.

That sequence requires discipline. Pass, create space, approach again and still arrive prepared to make an intelligent attacking decision. As Lexie continues improving the connection between those phases, her game becomes less dependent on ideal circumstances.
