About Lucero

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I like to look for open spots and weakness in my opponents. I utilize changing up my angle of hit or use a pokey on a tight set.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I try to lock in before game time by listening to music, during warm ups I focus on the fundamentals so that every pass and hit are spot on. This helps me focus and get ready to play. I am usually upbeat and encouraging during warm ups and matches.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I played recreational soccer, basketball and softball for many years. I was on a competitive soccer team from 2019-2022 as a defender. I began playing club volleyball since 2021 as a middle, right side and outside hitter. I received awards in excellence in Math and Physical Education in 8th grade.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have learned a lot about teamwork on and off the field and court. We work hard in practice and play hard in games. I have learned the importance of being a good teammate which includes being supportive and encouraging. I have taken on leadership responsibilities by being a captain on my team and also demonstrating qualities of a leader by always being respectful of others and my coaches.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Last year I faced overcoming an ankle sprain before my team's first tournament. I sprained my ankle and was on crutches. I continued to attend practices to be supportive of my team. I was able to transition into a boot by the time the tournament came so I attended the tournament and cheered my team on from the sideline. Thankfully, I had fully recovered by the power league qualifier.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a college that has studies in the veterinarian field. I am looking to play volleyball at a higher level at either a DI, DII, DIII, NAIA or NJCAA level.
