About Lyla

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

Quick moving, smart decision making when it comes to setting the right hitters at the right time. Hustler with a strong driven flat serve.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I was a gymnast so mentally strong and I have had my mom/aunt for a coach for many years. I am a good teammate and always put the team first.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I was a competitive gymnast for many years but now just do volleyball, track and stay involved at church when I can in the program I was confirmed.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I like to babysit when I have time and am good with little kids. I help at church sometimes and attend the HS youth group when it doesn't conflict with practice. This has helped me with patience and understanding.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

My mom is the club director as well, that has put me in some hard situations. Friends sometimes have tried to use me to get answers from my mom. She doesn't share info with me and they don't always believe that and it has been difficult. Also, I have played with other setters who don't want to see me succeed and I still support them.
