About Macayla

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I excel at reading the game by focusing on where the ball is coming from and where it’s going, rather than just reacting to where I anticipate it will be. My defensive skills are strong—I’m quick on my feet, transition smoothly, and track the ball effectively. Growing up with a deep volleyball background, I was coached by my dad and often play other positions where needed and Im highly coachable.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

Off the court, my friends would describe me as understanding and kind, but on the court, my focus is on elevating my teammates and keeping them engaged, even after mistakes. My approach is aggressive and confident , my technique is to attack with force first and strategy. I prioritize a strong, decisive hitting style while maintaining a supportive and competitive mindset throughout the match.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Yes, I am involved in FFA and take veterinary classes at school, where I’m learning to administer shots and gain hands-on experience with animal care. My goal is to become both a doctor and a veterinarian, which requires extensive schooling. I would love the opportunity to play in college while pursuing my studies.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I am actively involved in my church’s 608 group, where we engage in community outreach projects. I’ve participated in food and clothing drives, helping those in need, and have also contributed to fundraising efforts for my volleyball team.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I am proud of my ability to adapt and persevere through challenges. At school, I tend to be quiet, which can make forming friendships more difficult since I don’t always put myself out there. Instead, I let connections happen naturally. While it sometimes takes me a bit longer to learn new things and I have a disability with word retrieval, I’ve learned how to deal with and it seems to be working

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a college that offers veterinary courses as I work toward becoming a doctor, since my passion lies in working with animals. Any school I consider must have a strong veterinary program as well as a competitive volleyball program. I’m excited for the opportunity to connect with potential coaches or scouts to see where I’d be a great fit. No matter what, I’m grateful for this!
