About Madalin
How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?
My gameplay style is very unique. I have an awareness for the court and can see what is going to happen before it does. I have developed meticulous skill on the court, to where I can play any position and continue to have a positive impact on the team. I believe that communication is key, and that means that I am constantly talking and giving feedback to my teammates.
Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?
I am a very outgoing young woman. I will always help somebody whether it's convinient for me or not. I am constantly setting challenges for myself because I find joy in performing difficult tasks; along with that, I set impossible goals, so that I have to outperform everybody around me. My mentality in all situtations has always been that you must be challenged before you see change.
Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?
I participate in many extracurricular activities. Outside of being a member in Rotary Club and SAT Club, a GameChang3rs Ambassador, and a Special Education volunteer at my high school, I am also a 14U Assistant Coach at a local volleyball club, AimHigh, and I coach 5th and 6th graders during the winter and spring every year.
What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?
Throughout many years playing volleyball I have developed a variety of skills and qualities. Besides learning the skills and techniques needed to compete on the court, the qualities that have come forth in my personality include contantly being disciplined, being a team leader on and off the court, becoming a problem-solver, and how to manage emotions and act with confidence in all situations.
Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.
Challenges have appeared everywhere, practice especially. Throughout the countless hours of being in the gym, the most significant challenge has been to never give up. I have had several thoughts about not being a good player, that I'm not getting better, and not believing in myself. Overcoming all sorts of bad habits and continuing to show up has been the hardest challenge for me to overcome.
What type of college are you looking for?
I am looking for a college where I am able to be pushed out of my comfort zone in all areas academically and athletically. Being in challenging positions is where I thrive, whether I'm in the classroom or on the court. I would also like a college to have the philosophy where building a team culture and confidence come first and second over winning, since you must have both to win.
