Girard had state championship aspirations but fell short during the Class 3A Regionals. Coester finished her senior season as the Trojans’ top attacker with 469 kills in 97 sets played. She is a six-rotation athlete who finished with more than 1,000-career kills, digs, and serve receptions. She participated in multiple college camps last summer and has offers, but to my knowledge, she remains uncommitted. She also competes in basketball and track and field.

Girard’s Coester parlayed a busy summer into a climb up the rankings. She is now ranked No. 35 overall. She recently participated in the Prep Dig Stockup Showcase in Kansas City, KS, and participated in the Pittsburg State Elite Camp this summer. I have a hard time believing that she won’t be wearing a Gorillas jersey next season, but other coaches should be recruiting her with gusto.

Coester has a good arm on her and brings a little power behind her swings. I thought her shot and decision making through and over the block was a strong suit for her. She was also serviceable in the passing game and had strong hands to assist in getting the ball to the setter.

She was key in helping Girard get to the state tournament last year from the outside position. She will eclipse the 1,000 kills mark this fall.
