About Madelyn

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I would describe my gameplay as very calm and relaxed while also being a very positive influence on the court. i communicate a lot on the court and try to encourage and uplift my teammates.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I would describe my personality as being a bit quieter and more of an observer and listener type of person but with the right people around me as well on the court I am a lot louder. My mentality in life is to include and care for others without forgetting to do the same for myself.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

None right now.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Volleyball has taught me many ideas in life such as perseverance and working together with others. But it also has taught me to find comfort in chaos. Volleyball is a game that doesn’t always go as planned and does often get a little chaotic. But learning to embrace chaos, like volleyball teaches us, things work out a lot more often than not.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Over the course of my volleyball career I have faced numerous challenges involving stereotypes about my height, coaches of favoritism, and always having to prove my worthiness to the position I am striving for. I have also had to overcome my mental doubts in my game play and I am currently seeing a sports psychologist to help improve my mental performance!

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a college that gives me multiple career paths while I am still deciding where I want to head in my career. I’m not so concerned about location at the moment. I am still exploring all my options!
