The Liberty senior is swinging away in her last club season. She is comfortable terminating from either pin and helped her NPJ Seattle team to a Bronze bracket win. Lester plays bigger than her listed 6’0″, and is a tremendous blocker, matching up against teams’ best outsides across the net. She will hammer a ball off the block and isn’t afraid to rip it in a crucial situation.

From Holley- “Maiya is probably one of the sweetest people I know and such an amazing teammate. She also has a strong cross-court shot that gets past many blockers. Maiya is someone who goes 100% on every ball. “

Lester has always been able to switch into a right side or middle blocker role, with the NPJ Seattle 17 National at Emerald City she took three rotations at RS. At an even 6’0, she was tough on the block and found shots to score around, over and through the block. She was efficent, and showed good accuracy and control with her attacks.

Lester is playing with increased force and decisiveness, the junior from Liberty High School is laser focused on the court with NPJ this club season. The 2025 checks in at a solid 6’0″ with length and strong hands, and is playing with high confidence moving into the second half of the club season.

An outside during the club season, Lester has moved inside for Liberty and the team has been rolling with a 12-0 record. That versatility allows Liberty to move her around for swings offensively, and Lester has great vision working around blockers to score. She plays longer that her listed 6 foot height, extending on the block to shut down the opposing teams attackers. Setter Aimee Brester gives Lester perfect medium tempo balls to work with in transition and she has the ability to work it around the block to score.

Liberty racked up three wins in week 1, handling Lakes, Skyline and Mt. Tahoma to start the year strong. Lester is hitting just under .400 for the year as part of a loaded Liberty frontline. Lester has pin hitter skills, but is playing in the middle for the Patriots, she showed good hands when she stepped in to play the ball in week one. She worked hard to get pin to pin and posted multiple blocks in each match.

Lester really did great work from her right side spot, and she is terminating from the outside and coming down the middle strong on the “2” ball as well. Lester has been working hard and it’s paying off for her NPJ Seattle 16 National team. Setter Annikah Wright dished out many of the beautiful back sets that Lester put away, Wright holds the middle and then flicks it to the right side with a nice tempo and location.

Lester has excellent length and is skilled, able to handle the ball from her spot in the middle. With an excellent motor, she will get on the floor defensively while still working pin-to-pin to put up a solid block. She is improving as an attacker and should see a big jump during club this season.
