About Makayla

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am a versatile, consistent all-around outside hitter. I am dependable in serve receive, smart in shot selection, and reliable in high-pressure moments.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am competitive, strategic, and driven. I always give 110% on every play. I try to put myself and teammates in the best possible position to win. I am a leader, positive, and team focused. I love to learn, and I work hard at being the best I can be no matter what it is.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I have been a member of the National Honor Society for two years. I participate in Book Club and Drama Club through my school.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have become a stronger leader with my teammates, coaches, and in life. I have developed effective communication skills on and off the court. My work ethic and discipline have become stronger and more consistent. I am learning how to be a role model to younger athletes by volunteering at youth clinics and camps.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Learning how to maintain honor classes and playing sports can be a challenge. When it gets overwhelming my mom, teachers, and I develop a plan to help me balance both more effectively. Another challenge is playing on a 15u team as a 13-year-old. The experience and maturity levels can be intimidating but it has pushed me to grow mentally, physically, and as a teammate.

What type of college are you looking for?

A college that offers a balance between academics and athletics, where I can compete at a high level in volleyball and be supported just as much academically. A school that has a positive, safe, environment and community.
