Please officially welcome Miss Olvera to the State Rankings.  She is currently ranked as the 142^nd best overall prospect in the 2026 Class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings.  She plays for Edinburg High School and also for the McAllen Fierce volleyball club.  When it is all said and done Makayla might just be the kill leader in the entire history her high school.  There is not one team who can completely stop her in her distrct.  Four the past three years and counting, she has torched everyone en route to over 1560 kills.  The best part about this is that the season has just barely started and there is a lot of volleyball still to play.  The dual sport stud also shines on the basketball court for her school.  Opposing coaches need to watch where she is at all times, because it is not a matter of if she will get set, it is only a matter of what tempo and route will she run.  After watching her over the years, it was a no brainer for us to reward the production that she has been having.  Stats do not lie…this kid is special.  Please help us congratulate her on earning a spot amongst the best players in our State Rankings. 

Makayla is currently an unranked prospect in the 2026 class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings, but will be added to our official Watch List soon.  She plays volleyball at Edinburg High School and club for the McAllen Fierce volleyball program.  Miss Olvera is a very versatile player who is truly capable of playing all three front row positions along the net at a high level.  She packs one heck of a punch in her arm swing that sends a blistering shot at opponents and makes it very difficult to defend against.  Because of this awesome power that she generates with her shot, opposing blockers must have perfect form otherwise she will tool them out of bounds for a score easily.  Being a hitter who can move the ball around to many locations on the court is a big threat as a scorer and that is exactly who Makayla is as an attacker.  She has a great ability to turn on the ball with power to score down the line.  We are very impressed with what we see from her offensive output and think she is someone that college coaches can be looking at now.  She is a big time point scorer who can give any squad a lot of options.

A versatile prospect, Olvera spent some time on the right and left a strong impression there. Her offense was among the best in the gym thanks to her excellent court vision and her variety of shots. On many occasions, opposing blockers thought they had Olvera just for her to make a last-second move and hit the ball a few inches off the block to score. Another reason for her excellent production was her great footwork, which allowed her to adjust to sets with little effort.

Makayla is currently an unranked prospect in the 2026 Class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings, but she has popped up onto our radar as of lat with her stellar performance this high school season.  She plays volleyball at Edinburg High School and club for the Mcallen Fierce volleyball program.  Miss Olvera was recently written about due to her production as an assassin on the volleyball court.  She has racked up an insane amount of kills and the craziest part about it is that they have primarily come out of the middle position.  Normally the leaderboard is littered with outside pins because they usually get the most attempts, but Makayla has earned the respect of her setter to feed her early and often.  I am very intrigued to see her at the Expo because we will challenge her to speed up her tempo in the middle to hit faster paced sets.  If she can adjust to them, then she will be boosted onto the big stage of our lists.  The other aspect that I am really wanting to see is how she performs both in the back row and also attacking out of the pins.  Stay tuned for more.   

Makayla is currently an unranked prospect in the 2026 class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings, but has been turning heads with her production at the net.  She plays for Edinburg High School and plays club for the Mcallen Fierce volleyball program.  Miss Olvera has been racking up kills like crazy this season.  She currently has 470 kill in only 99 sets played.  This is good enough for fifth most amongst all junior attackers across the state of Texas.  I am not sure that there is a better word to describe what she has been doing from the pins other than DOMINATING.  The beautiful part about her play is that she can play any position along the net and routinely plays out of the middle, which is super tough.  Her routes are mainly in the five spot and are normally second tempo sets, but she is still crushing them at a very high clip.  The force that her down swing generates is astounding and not many players have been able to slow her down.  This young lady is able to hit high tempo left side shots out of serve receive to showcase her versatility.  I think she has tons of potential and we are definitely going to be in the running to make our State Rankings list in the next update.  We are proud of her and her hard work at her craft this year.  She deserves a few looks by schools looking for an athletic diamond in the rough.
