About Makenna

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I play with a determined and aggressive style, focusing on blocking and attacking efficiently. I strive to be a dependable and enthusiastic teammate who uplifts others and works hard to improve each game.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I believe in a "get the next ball" mentality, learning from mistakes without letting them define me. I am enthusiastic, supportive, and driven to work hard both on and off the court

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am actively involved in the C.A.R. organization, where I've held roles ranging from secretary to president. Through this, I contribute to fundraisers, community service, and events honoring veterans. Additionally, I have been on the principal's honor roll every semester and currently have a 3.82 GPA

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Through volleyball and my previous experience playing club soccer and cheer, I've developed strong teamwork and communication skills, as well as a competitive yet supportive mindset. My involvement in C.A.R. has helped me grow as a leader, manage responsibilities and connect with my community through service projects.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Volleyball was a new sport for me in 7th grade and starting out on the B team was humbling, it pushed me to work hard and improve. I tried out for our local club in east county, earning a position on their 13-1's team but I did not see a lot of play time that season. Through hard work and dedication, I continued to improve eventually earning a starting position as a freshman on Varsity.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a college that values both athletic and academic excellence. I want a program that supports my goals and also challenges me to grow as a player and a student. A program with supportive teammates, competitive opportunities and a strong sense of community.
