About Makenzie

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

Focused, driven, and basically all business. I practice and play with intention and hold myself to a very high standard. I love the game and let that show through my play. I'm willing to make mistakes in practice to get better, and I approach every opportunity I get to play as a gift.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I would describe my personality as quiet and reserved at first. I like to work hard, get better, and get the job done. I am very much a focused player on the court. I do open up and have fun; however, I do take volleyball seriously, and I'm always wanting to get better on the court. Coach Taryn Weber says, "In practice, Kenzie is willing to make mistakes in order to experience growth"

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

The main club I'm involved with at school is FFA. Through FFA, I've shown pigs and goats, I'm on the speech team, and this year I will start horticulture judging. I've also attended numerous leadership conferences, conventions, and community service projects. Some other clubs I'm involved with are FCA, and Academic Team.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Leadership qualities I've developed by playing sports, and being involved in clubs, are leading by example. I am not a "vocal leader"; I like to lead by example, working hard, and helping others achieve goals.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I wouldn't call them significant challenges, but I have worked extremely hard to play at a high level both physically/skill wise and mentally. Working on my mental game this last 12 months has been the hardest, but it's been very crucial to my game play.

What type of college are you looking for?

I'm open to attending any college. I want to find the best fit for me academically and the best fit for the volleyball program. I am looking to play high-level volleyball and be challenged on and off the court.
